Any news of the next big TRASH competition?
For us out of town judges, it's good for us to know well in advance of the date so that we can make plans for that weekend and try to avoid scheduling conflicts, especially as the warmer months arrive, when calendars seem to fill up. I guess with the demise of Hereford & Hops, the venue is now a problem, though.
Over at BURP, we ended up choosing Whole Foods Market in on of the DC/Virginia suburbs. An unconventional choice. The only area big enough for us there is their public seating area in front, so it promises to be a very public, open event. The organisers perhaps chose that over one of the county fairgrounds because it will give the club and BJCP program more public exposure.

Bottle Requirements
We've decided that we will except bottles that don't meet the bottle requirements, ie. raised lettering. Bottling requirements are two 10 to 16-ounce brown or green glass bottles that are free of any labels, raised lettering, or other distinguishing markings. These non-conforming entries will be entered for evaluation only. "Evaluation only" means that the beer would be evaluated by the judges and scored as if it were an actual entry in the competition, however it would not be eligible to win an award or advance to the best of show judging round. These entries will receive the same feed back as actual entries, but they will simply not be considered in the final ranking of the flights. I feel that this is the only fair way to allow irregular sized bottles be evaluated, but also encourage entrants to follow the bottling guidelines. This way allows entrants to receive feedback on their beer while not having to re-bottle it for entry to the competition.

following up on the bottle requirements
Will you accept sam adams raised lettering bottles? I know they are not encouraged but are they accepted.
Probably ok
I'm not an organizer this year, but even though raised lettering is discouraged, we have accepted those bottles in the past. Peter would have final say though.

bottle requirements
how lenient is the bottle requirement of "12oz brown glass" ?
for example, are 11.2oz belgian style bottles allowed?
We have accepted 11.2 oz. bottles in the past
We have accepted 11.2 oz. bottles in the past. It's pretty hard to tell exactly how many ounces a bottle holds, so I think you'll be ok with 11.2 oz. 7 oz. would be a different story. Once again, I'm not the organizer, so Peter has the final word.
