For the club's May 2015 meeting we will be visiting Grist House Brewing in Millvale on Sunday, May 17th, at 12:30 PM.
Grist House is one of Pittsburgh's newer breweries, having just opened last spring. If you've never been, this is a great chance to check the place out and try some of their most excellent brews.
- Please note the earlier than usual start time for this meeting. Grist House opens to the public at 2:00 on Sundays, but they are opening early for us so we can take care of our normal meeting business and get a tour of the brewery before they open. We will be starting this meeting pretty much right on time.
- As with all our meeting venues, please show Grist House that we appreciate them sharing their space with us by purchasing a flight or a pint or two while you're there. We are very lucky to have so many breweries in the area willing to host our club. Buying beer from them at the meeting and afterwards is a great way to let them know it's worth their while to host us.
- As always, please bring homebrew to share and get feedback from fellow homebrewers - many of whom are certified BJCP judges. Bring bottles, growlers, kegs, whatever works for you.
- Please RSVP here to let us know if you're coming.
Meeting Topic In addition to the normal club business portion of the meeting and the brewery tour and the homebrew sharing, we'll have a technical presentation/discussion. Competition ringer Andy Weigel will be discussion how to brew beer for competitions. This information is useful to anyone looking to figure out how to brew beer to style, how to put your best foot forward in competitions, or just where to begin if you've never competed before. Not everyone cares about entering competitions or winning medals, but even those just looking to brew better beer for their own consumption will take away some useful pointers.
See you there!
