This event is in the past.
The club's annual holiday party will once again be held in the ballroom at James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy on Pittsburgh's North Side on Saturday, December 5th, 2015. This is the same venue as last year's party (and the TRASH XXV competition & awards banquet). The party starts at 5:00 and we have the room booked for the whole evening, so plan to hang around and have a good time with your fellow club members. Bring your significant others and little ones; this event is family friendly.
Just like last year, there will be a $10 cover fee for the party. Your $10 gets you one draft beer from the ballroom bar, plus house-made chips & dips to snack on. Food can be ordered à la carte from a menu of sandwiches, salads, burgers, appetizers, and wings. Come hungry - James Street makes some pretty good eats at reasonable prices. The ballroom bar will be tended all evening for you to buy additional draft & bottled beer.
As this is a homebrew club gathering, you are encouraged to bring your own homebrew to share. Bottles, growlers, whatever. Get feedback, get critique, get praise. Get into a serious discussion about the differences between WLP002 and Wyeast 1968. Bring out that stuff you've been saving - your 2009 Flanders Red, your 2011 Wee Heavy, that Bourbon Barrel RIS you brewed 18 months ago - as this is the time to celebrate!
Grab Bag: Gift-wrap a special bottle of beer (commercial or homebrew) and bring it to the meeting. We'll have a special table set up for the grab bag bottles. At 7:00 anyone who put one in gets to take one out. Keep your gift wrap anonymous - put who it's from under the wrapping so nobody can see until after the gift has been opened. If you receive a commercial bottle, please don't crack it open until you get home.
Mini Competition: There will be a mini-competition at the holiday party to choose the best beer brewed from the mystery grist handed out at the October meering. Full details are available here:
Lastly, we will hold an official meeting at 5:45 PM to discuss club business including installation of new club officers (Vice President & Secretary). The meeting will last 15-20 minutes after which, party on!
Please RSVP to help us get a head count so we can let James Street know what to expect. Cheers!
