Location: East End Brewing Company, 147 Julius St, Pittsburgh, PA 15206
Our September meeting will be mixing things up a bit. We'll be at East End Brewing on a Tuesday (yes, Tuesday) September 18 from 7 to 9pm. Due to popular request, we're going to be adding some structure and some focused discussions to the meetings.
We're going to have Tech Talk on Recipe Creation. After that, we're going to do some structured tasting. I'd like for a few (3 or 4) people to bring a homebrewed and offer it up for public critique. We'll all sample the beer at the same time , and offer our perceptions and suggestions. We can do more as time allows. East End closes at 9, and thus, our meeting ends then.

Our October meeting will be a mashup of a couple of annual events: Our club picnic and our Oktoberfest party. This will be an Octoberfest Picnic!
Daren's House. 1015 Chaulk Hill Drive, Moon Twp, PA, 15108
Saturday, October 20, from 4 pm to 9 pm. Note that the Octoberfest Picnic is spouse-friendly, but not kid-friendly. Please RSVP by October 13.
Potluck. Bring your favorite German-themed dish. (Please don't everyone bring biercheese and pretzels). We'll figure out a "sign-up sheet" as the evernt gets closer.
Among the festivities...
*TRASHy Award. We'll have a mini-competition (People's Choice) to award the TRASHy. The TRASHy has long been a coveted award, formerly awarded to the best kegged beer at the picnic. This year, we're also adding in a gift basket from Insurrection Brewing (an unclaimed prize from the competition). To compete for the TRASHy, bring enough of your best beer for 30-40 people to sample and vote on. A keg or a couple growlers would be sufficient. German Beer is preferred, in the spirit of the season, but bring any beer you like!
*Tech Talk from Daren on Brewery Design. Daren's recently been through another evolution of his brewery, and his tech talk will center around his design process and the evolution of his brewing. If you're thinking deep thoughts about upgrading some equipment, this would be a good talk to attend.
*Raffle. We have a number of unclaimed (and thus forfeit) competition prizes, including growler fills, gift cards, T-shirts and the like. We're raffling them off. $1/ticket or $5/6 tickets.
*Officer Nominations. October is when we take nominations for the offices opening up. President and Treasurer are opening up, and we'll be taking nominations for the November election.
